I made the mistake of turning on the television tonight. Sky News. They were having an "immigration debate."
There, on the screen, was a question designed not to elicit thought, but to trigger a lizard-brain response of pure, distilled fear: “Where is the navy? We’re being invaded!”
I swiftly turned it off. The rage was immediate. This isn't journalism. It's not a debate. It's the broadcast equivalent of throwing a bucket of chum into shark-infested waters. It is red meat TV for a nation being deliberately starved of truth, nuance, and basic decency.
Honestly, fuck this xenophobic, racist, bigoted, shitty little nation we're becoming.
This isn’t a new phenomenon. We've had utter bullshit pumped into our politics for over a decade now. There's no seriousness, no attempt to solve actual problems—only a desperate, cynical search for the next scapegoat. First, Europe was the boogie man, the source of all our ills. Now, with that charade complete, the finger pivots without missing a beat. Now, it’s immigrants.
The narrative is always the same: a foreign entity is "draining" us, "overwhelming" us, "invading" us.
Perhaps people should try looking inwards for once. Perhaps they should use a single fucking brain cell and ask who is really draining this shitty little island. It’s not the nurse from the Philippines treating you in the hospital, and it’s not the farm worker from Romania picking the food you eat. It's the rich, the powerful, and the politicians who serve them, who have systematically asset-stripped this country while telling you to blame the person in the dinghy.
I'm fucking furious. I'm furious at the inertia, the continual decline of our standards and our society. I'm furious that people just lap up the bullshit, roll over, and ask for more.
So let’s stop debating their premise. Let's talk facts.
The very people accused of "draining" our resources are, in reality, a net benefit to them. The Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) has repeatedly stated that higher net migration reduces pressure on public finances. Why? Because migrants are more likely to be of working age and therefore pay more in taxes than they consume in public services. In the 2022/23 tax year, non-UK nationals paid an estimated £79 billion in income tax and National Insurance alone.
They scream about the strain on the NHS while conveniently ignoring who is holding it together. As of March 2024, around 1 in 6 (16.5%) of NHS staff in England are not British. That's over 234,000 people. Nearly a quarter of all our doctors are non-UK nationals. They are not a burden on the NHS; they are the NHS.
There is no debate to be had about the value of immigration. It's an essential, non-negotiable reality of a functioning modern economy. Without it, who the fuck is going to treat you in the hospital, build your houses, staff your care homes, clean your workplace, or do the thousand other jobs that you'd never dream of doing because you think it's beneath you?
We don't need another staged, bad-faith "debate." We need facts to go mainstream. We need to confront the lies with the cold, hard reality that this country would grind to a halt without the very people these ghouls are teaching you to hate.
It’s time to stop being polite. It's time to stop accepting the premise of their racist questions. The tolerant left needs to become intolerant, loud, and fucking angry. We need to call out the bigots, the liars, and the disaster capitalists in our media and our politics.
Otherwise, we are genuinely, utterly fucked.
